Made from glassy, igneous rock which is crushed into pellet sized fragments and heat treated. The pellets are extremely light weight and contain white sand like grains which have continuous pores which create strong oil absorbency through capillary action. Types No. 1 and 2 absorb only oil whereas types 3 and 4 absorb oil and water. Pellets are not toxic or harmful to sealife.
